Welcome to the Appalachian Hikers Website Take a Hike!!! |
|
This site contains all the info you need to hike and sightsee in some of the most spectacular places on earth. If you don't believe it, just check out the photos from prior
trips in our Photo Gallery. Our trips are generally two weeks long, providing enough time to thoroughly explore the wonders of each destination. Trip FAQsHow much camping and backpacking is involved?Trips are generally two weeks long and are organized so there is no camping or backpacking. For the most part, trip accommodations are in 3 or 4 star hotels/motels (e.g. typical U.S. motel chains). How big is each tour group? The group size is usually limited to 20 partipants and two leaders. Do I have to participate in all of the hikes? The group travels in three or four mini-vans. This provides flexibility in organizing each day's activities e.g. easy, medium, or lengthy hikes and/or sightseeing. Participants can hike and or sightsee as much or as little as their desires and abilities permit. It is OK to break off from group activities to pursue topics or places of interest.
What's included in the costs?Costs generally include all meals, lodging, air and ground transportation, unless otherwise noted in the trip prospectus. While trip organizers are not compensated, their trip expenses are included in total trip costs allocated to trip participants Trip applicants must pay the full estimated cost prior to the trip. Immediately following completion of the trip, any excess funds are promptly refunded to participants. Click here to see a summary of costs for prior trips. How do I sign up for a trip?A trip's prospectus is posted on this website 10-12 months in advance of the trip. Once posted, you can contact the trip organizer and submit an application. We suggest you add this web site to your "Favorites" so you can periodically check to see what new trips are planned. E-mails are only sent to the Appalachian Hikers distribution list either to ascertain if there is sufficient interest to organize a future trip OR when there are still openings on a trip previously posted on this site.
